Biography
Tom DeWitt's writing journey started in high school, where he showcased his creativity through different mediums like plays, yearbooks, newspapers, and literary magazines. As part of a military family, Tom was instilled with a sense of service, which he carried forward even after retiring from the Army in 1996. Late-night conversations with friends, family, and colleagues inspired him for the SOUP Trilogy, which garnered critical acclaim. Tom's exploration into Quantum Physics and works by John Locke and other Enlightenment philosophers gave him an introspective perspective, which he masterfully weaves into his stories that tackle complex societal issues caused by using new technology. Tom retired from the Army in 1996 and co-founded his Information Technology business in 1998.
For over 40 years, Tom has served in or provided services to the Department of Defense. This experience provides the backdrop for the events of his books.
Tom graduated from John Handley High School in Winchester, Virginia, and obtained degrees from Longwood College (BS, Biology) and the University of Southern California (MS, Information Systems). He now calls Herndon, Virginia, home and is a proud grandfather of two.
